Role description
The Business Partnerships Officer supports the Business Partnerships team in coordinating corporate, trust and foundation partnerships that fund Feenix student support programmes.
The role focuses on maintaining an organised donor pipeline, supporting the preparation and submission of funding proposals, coordinating donor reporting processes and assisting with partner engagement activities. Working closely with the senior business partnerships coordinator and relevant internal teams, the role ensures that partnership administration, donor documentation and engagement processes are managed efficiently and accurately.
Core responsibilities including, but not exclusive to:Donor Pipeline Management and Prospect Research
- Maintain and update donor and prospect records within the CRM system (little green light), ensuring all donor interactions, contact details and engagement history are accurately captured and organised.
- Track key partnership milestones including meetings, proposal submissions and reporting deadlines to support effective pipeline management.
- Conduct research on potential corporate, trust and foundation partners and prepare background briefing notes for partnership meetings and engagements.
- Support the Senior Business Partnerships Coordinator in identifying new partnership opportunities and maintaining an organised prospect pipeline.
Funding proposals and grant applications- Coordinate the administrative preparation of funding proposals and grant applications, ensuring required documentation is compiled and submission deadlines are met.
- Assist in gathering programme information, student impact data and organisational information required for proposal submissions.
- Coordinate inputs from internal teams to ensure proposals are complete, accurate and aligned with donor requirements.
- Maintain proposal templates, submission records and supporting documentation for future funding applications.
Donor administration and reporting- Coordinate donor reporting schedules with the impact management and measurement (IMM) manager, ensuring reporting timelines align with donor requirements and internal data availability.
- Maintain tracking systems to monitor donor reporting deadlines and ensure deliverables are completed on time.
- Prepare donor documentation including invoices, partnership letters, Section 18A certificates and related correspondence.
- Maintain organised records of donor agreements, reporting documentation and donor communications.
- Assist with the preparation of donor reports and impact updates by coordinating inputs from the IMM Manager and other relevant internal teams.
Partnership engagement and fundraising operations- Coordinate logistics for donor meetings, partnership engagements and fundraising activities, including scheduling, preparation of briefing notes and meeting documentation.
- Support the coordination of fundraising campaigns, partner engagements and donor events.
- Work with the Finance team to assist with invoicing and financial documentation related to partnership funding.
- Provide day-to-day administrative and coordination support to the business partnerships team to ensure smooth operational delivery.
Team coordination and operational support- Maintain organised filing systems for donor and partnership documentation to ensure accessibility and audit readiness.
- Support coordination between the partnerships, finance, marketing and impact teams where donor-related information or reporting inputs are required.
- Contribute to improving internal processes that support efficient partnership management and fundraising operations.

Qualifications and experience- Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in business, communications, marketing, development studies or a related field
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in fundraising, partnerships, administration or stakeholder engagement
- Strong research, writing and organisational skills
- Experience working with CRM or database systems is advantageous
Advantageous experience- Experience in non profit fundraising or corporate social investment (CSI)
- Familiarity with donor reporting or grant administration
- Exposure to stakeholder engagement or partnership coordination
- Experience supporting fundraising events or campaigns
- Understanding of B-BBEE or social impact funding structures
Working environmentHybrid work model
- Compulsory in office days on Wednesdays and Thursdays (days are subject to change)
- Optional remote work on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays (at own expense to the individual)
