About Roothold

Roothold Sustainability Communications provides technical writing, editing and design support to clients with a sincere desire to protect and restore our planet for the benefit of all. Our services include the development of publications (research, writing, editing, fact-checking and graphic design), advocacy materials and communications strategies.

This job would suit a self-starter who is set up to work from home (computer, internet, quiet place to work) but is also willing to move around for the job. The ideal candidate:

• Holds a graduate degree (or higher) in sustainability, conservation, economics or similar (non-negotiable)
• Has an eye for detail and is knowledgeable about the nuances of English grammar, spelling and punctuation
• Is curious, able to learn quickly and passionate about sustainability 
• Is a flexible thinker and adaptable to the needs of the organisation
• Is technically competent across all basic work platforms (email, teams, social media etc)
• Must be based in Cape Town with a valid driver’s licence and own car.

Duration
This is a three-month, primarily work-from-home contract starting on 1 May 2026.

Remuneration
Remuneration will be market-related and based on the level of experience and editing test performance.
