Job summary
The Grow Collective is looking for a creative, proactive, and execution-driven Social Media Manager to join our growing digital marketing agency in Cape Town.
This role focuses on executing and managing social media content across multiple ecommerce and consumer brands, primarily across TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Working closely with the creative strategist, account managers, and creative team, you will translate social media strategies into detailed content plans and high-quality content execution, including short-form video creation, briefing designers, publishing content, and managing brand communities.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced agency environment, confidently manages multiple brands simultaneously, and operates with strong time management, attention to detail, and deadline discipline.
You should be comfortable creating short-form video content, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring social media content is consistently executed to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
1. Content planning and execution
- Translate social media strategies into structured monthly content plans for TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Develop detailed content calendars, including post concepts, captions, and publishing schedules.
- Conduct competitor research and trend monitoring to identify tactical platform opportunities.
- Ideate content formats, campaigns, and product pushes aligned with brand positioning.
- Work closely with the creative strategist and account managers to ensure content aligns with broader brand and campaign direction.
2. Content creation and production
- Ideate, shoot, and edit short-form video content for TikTok and Instagram Reels.
- Create content in UGC-style and product-led formats, ensuring it feels native to each platform.
- Confidently produce face-to-camera content when required.
- Script, plan, and concept trend-driven product videos aligned with brand positioning.
- Develop shot lists and content briefs for the Videographer for higher-production shoots.
- Ensure ongoing asset banks are developed to support organic and paid media testing.
- Write compelling on-brand captions and social media copy.
- Edit content using CapCut, Canva, or similar tools, ensuring platform-native formatting.
- Perform quality control checks before publishing.
3. Creative coordination
- Develop clear design briefs for the designer and ensure alignment with campaign objectives.
- Coordinate with the videographer and creative team to ensure assets are delivered on time.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and campaign direction.
- Maintain organised content calendars, briefs, and asset libraries.
4. Community and reputation management
- Manage daily community engagement across all social platforms.
- Respond to comments and direct messages in a timely and on-brand manner.
- Foster meaningful interactions and help build engaged brand communities.
- Monitor community sentiment and escalate potential issues when necessary.
5. Influencer and UGC coordination
- Assist in identifying UGC creators and influencers aligned with brand positioning.
- Coordinate outreach, briefs, and content delivery timelines.
- Track content delivery and assist in monitoring campaign performance.
- Ensure influencer content aligns with brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
6. Paid media collaboration
- Work closely with the paid media team to develop creative assets required for performance campaigns.
- Support the creation of conversion-focused social content.
- Ensure insights from organic performance inform paid creative testing.
7. Performance monitoring and reporting
- Monitor social media performance and engagement across platforms.
- Assist in compiling monthly performance reports, highlighting insights and opportunities.
- Identify high-performing content formats and trends to inform future planning.
Agency environment expectations
- Ability to manage multiple brands and content calendars simultaneously.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
- Highly deadline-driven and comfortable working in a fast-paced agency environment.

Qualifications and experience
- 1–3 years experience in social media management or content creation, ideally within an agency environment.
- Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and short-form video trends.
- Demonstrable experience shooting and editing platform-native content.
- Experience working with UGC creators or influencers is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CapCut and Canva.
- Strong copywriting and storytelling skills.
- Basic understanding of social media performance metrics and reporting.
- Experience collaborating with paid social campaigns is advantageous.
