    Role overview

    As Chef de Partie – Pastry, you will be responsible for executing high-quality pastry products with a strong focus on cake work, icing, and piping. Working under the guidance of the Sous Pastry Chef, your key strength must be consistency, in taste, texture, presentation, and timing. You'll be part of a busy, fast-paced kitchen, where attention to detail, teamwork, and a calm, methodical approach are essential.



    Key responsibilities
    • Prepare and deliver consistent, high-standard pastry items including cakes, tarts, plated desserts, and baked goods.
    • Take responsibility for the icing and piping of cakes, ensuring a polished and professional finish every time.
    • Follow established recipes and techniques to ensure uniformity across all products.
    • Assist in maintaining stock levels, mise en place, and prep schedules for the pastry section.
    • Uphold hygiene and health & safety standards in line with regulations and company policy.
    • Contribute to the development of new pastry items under the direction of senior chefs.
    • Maintain a clean and organised workstation and support team members where needed.


    Requirements

    • Matric
    • Culinary qualification
    • 1-2 years hospitality working experience
    • Proven experience in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
    • Advanced cake skills, particularly with icing, piping, and finishing techniques.
    • Strong understanding of pastry fundamentals and a flair for presentation.
    • Demonstrated commitment to consistency and quality.
    • Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.
    • Good communication skills and a team-first attitude.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and events.
